The city of Bad Tölz will start tree care work on Monday, January 15. Pedestrians and cyclists must pay attention to the closures - there is a danger to life.
Bad Tölz – The tree care work in the Tölz Kurpark was actually supposed to take place at the beginning of December. But then the heavy snowfalls threw a spanner in the works for the city. Now the work is to be started from this Monday, January 15. The municipal tree inspector Simon Behmenburg will carry out various tree protection measures together with colleagues from the depot and supported by an external company.
"In the peripheral areas of the site, where the trees are very dense, several trees will be felled and pruning measures will be carried out," according to a press release from the city. For their own safety, pedestrians are asked to pay attention to the barriers, especially if a truck-mounted crane is used this Monday. Some spruce and ash trees are dead or no longer stable and therefore have to be felled.
The treetops are also checked
In addition, the inspection showed that the crowns of other trees were damaged. Also, some trees are too dense. "Here, trees with slender crowns and high crown centres are removed in order to give more light to the trees next to them." Especially in times of climate change, it is necessary to strengthen the urban tree population through these measures. "In this way, the valuable green spaces that ensure a healthy climate in the city are professionally and sustainably secured for the future," says the city.
Inspector takes care of 7000 trees
Tree inspector Behmenburg is out and about in the city all year round to check the condition of the approximately 7000 municipal trees and, if necessary, to initiate maintenance measures in coordination with the tree protection commission. Winter, outside the months of bird breeding, is the ideal time for this. "In this way, the city not only fulfils its duty to ensure traffic safety, but at the same time ensures a healthy tree population through clever tree management."
