After protest, the railway reacts and changes its timetable: A train that was no longer supposed to stop in Moosburg is now making a stop there again - for the time being.

Moosburg – The incendiary letter has had an effect: As the Moosburg town hall announces, the RE50 regional express will stop in Moosburg again from next week. In doing so, Deutsche Bahn is fulfilling the demand of Mayor Josef Dollinger, who had campaigned for disgruntled commuters.

Background: With the timetable change in December, the stop of the RE 50 at 8 a.m. in Moosburg was cancelled, passengers had to switch to previous connections. However, some of these were massively overcrowded. And so it didn't take long for the anger to be transported to the city administration. After several complaints had been received, the head of the local authority, Josef Dollinger, sent a letter of protest to the Bavarian Railway Company and also asked the state politicians – members of the district and the Bavarian Minister of Transport – for support. The Freisinger Tagblatt also reported on the open letter. Now the city has received the happy news, as administrative manager Evelyn Stadler reported on Monday afternoon: "Our objection to the Bavarian Railway Company and the politicians has borne fruit." From Monday, 22 January, the RE50 will stop again in Moosburg at 8 a.m., the change will soon be included in the timetable information again.

These are the forecasts for the next timetable change

As the municipality was informed by the Bavarian Railway Company, this should only be done for this year and until the next timetable change, in order to ensure capacities for passengers from Moosburg this year. From next year, the units of the previous train (7.52 a.m.) as well as other train connections should be "renewed and the vehicle situation significantly improved", reports Stadler. "According to information from the Bavarian Railway Company, more units with a double-decker function will then be made available for this train at 7.52 a.m." This significantly increases passenger capacities, so that the elimination of the RE50 stop at 8 a.m. will probably come next year, but Moosburg commuters will then be better able to switch to the other connections.

Stadler draws a positive conclusion: "In any case, we have achieved a good solution in the short term." They would like to thank all those involved – "the Bavarian Railway Company, which reacted so quickly, as well as the politicians for their commitment".
