Highlights: Protest rides in the Tegernsee valley slow down day-trippers. Around 250 tractors, trucks and company vehicles, decorated with banners and flags, rolled around the lake twice. The demonstration was met with goodwill all around, even among the ski trippers with foreign license plates. Police estimates, the traffic jams caused by the protest columns caused a delay of about 25 minutes. "We want the government to look at the people and we want to be taken seriously again," says organizer Monika Peiß.

A protest column, longer than the one on Monday, slowed down excursion traffic at Tegernsee on Saturday. Around 250 tractors, trucks and company vehicles, decorated with banners and flags, rolled around the lake twice. It wasn't the last action. We are talking about the year of protest 2024.

Tegernsee Valley – "We were much more than on Monday," says organizer Monika Peiß with satisfaction. In order to demonstrate their displeasure against the policies of the federal government, the protesters gathered with around 250 vehicles at 8 o'clock in the morning in the most beautiful weather to roll in two columns in both directions twice around the Tegernsee. Compared to the first vehicle demonstration on Monday, the number of tractors has hardly increased, says Peiß. But significantly more trucks, vans and other company vehicles would have participated. On Monday, Peiß suspects, the representatives of other industries would probably not have had time to join. "But you can't talk about a farmer's protest anymore, it's a citizens' protest," says the organizer, who is not a farmer herself. The demonstration was met with goodwill all around, even among the ski trippers with foreign license plates. "There was a lot of thumbs up, applause and honking."

Police report no incidents

The Bad Wiessee police also reported a peaceful demonstration without incident. Officers observed the protest, which ended around 13 p.m. "There was nothing for us to do," explains a police spokesman. According to police estimates, the traffic jams caused by the protest columns caused a delay of about 25 minutes.

After the two rounds, the protesters came together, as they did on Monday, in the Tegernsee Bräustüberl, where landlord Peter Hubert had generously reserved space. The protesters also received a lot of encouragement and support, which gives the group a powerful boost. "We now want to enter into a citizens' dialogue," Peiß announces.

Citizens' dialogue planned

The planning for this started with the get-together in the Bräustüberl, the idea was born in the various What'sApp groups. All of them run under the title "in resistance" and together they reach thousands of people. The administrators of these groups, according to Peiß, are now planning weekly meetings in public places in the districts of Miesbach and Bad Tölz. Every citizen is invited to inform themselves there, says Peiß. In addition, flyers will be printed and distributed in large quantities. 2000 stickers have already been ordered. Inscription: "I'm not a farmer, but I'm still angry."

It is still unclear on which day of the week the protest meetings will take place, as well as their start and locations. The planning is just beginning, says Peiß. The initiative has not yet given itself a name. "That's the least of our problems." However, it is a non-partisan action with the aim of attracting attention. "We want the government to look at the people and we want to be taken seriously again."

Protest year 2024 announced

The further course of action, according to Peiß, depends on the outcome of the action in Berlin. However, it is not only about the interests of agriculture, but about the big picture, the burden on all citizens. It is expected that the entire year 2024 will be dominated by resistance.
