A visit to a restaurant with an aftermath: The team of a Baltic Sea restaurant refused a grown-up woman a children's schnitzel, which she didn't like at all.

Kühlungsborn – Google reviews are often helpful for consumers. They provide guidance as to whether past customers were satisfied with a store or a restaurant. But it is not uncommon for it to be played with it. And the authors of the texts are not always fair. In their opinion, an inappropriate review was disseminated by the operators of a restaurant in the Baltic Sea town of Kühlungsborn via screenshot on Facebook.

Scandal in Baltic Sea restaurant: Landlords saw bad Google review already coming

Their "Leinen-Los" at Ostseeallee 40, a stone's throw from the beach, has an average of 4.7 out of 5 stars, so it seems to be a veritable place to go if you are hungry as a holidaymaker in Kühlungsborn. Nevertheless, there was a scandal there after a visit to a restaurant. The fact that this could be followed by a demolition via Google was probably already swaying to the operators in the evening itself.

"If you like an overpriced GDR atmosphere, this is the place for you," writes the restaurant visitor. "The food was mediocre but rather expensive. The service was okay. Children's meals are available up to the age of 13, which is generally not a problem – however, if the child orders a full dish and 'leaves' the children's dish to the adult, this is not possible 'because the child does not eat it'." Then she pulls over the dishes: seasoned meat, toast, chicken, sweet potato chips – none of it was to her taste. Not even the decoration. "The Rostocker Pils was good" after all. The crux of the matter, however, is the matter of the children's court.

The operators of the Baltic Sea restaurant classify this topic on Facebook after a preceding "Today we have another highlight from the normal madness". According to the report, the visit occurred on January 2 shortly before 18 p.m., when the small group entered the restaurant and was able to dine there despite the lack of a reservation.

Baltic Sea restaurant: Visitor desperately wants children's schnitzel – and tries to order it over the child

The presentation of the operators: "Two of the ladies, both over 13 years old, choose a dish (burger, and chicken breast on pasta with parmesan cream sauce). The third lady, far from 13 years old, orders an appetizer (seasoned meat) and secondly a children's schnitzel. Here our Jule pointed out that these dishes are only for children from 0 to 13 years old. Then the lady said in a sharp tone, 'Then I'll order this for my daughter.'" The daughter, however, has already chosen her dish, the "Leinen-Los" team describes. "Once again, slowly and clearly: 'These dishes are only for our little guests.' The lady replied: 'Then only the seasoned meat'. Jule complied with the request. The food came, everything was eaten, and this completely. Jule cleaned up, and we were all sure that this lady would write to us."

And that's how it happened: The team of the Baltic Sea restaurant immediately found the negative review on the net. It decided to share it on Facebook: "Here's the childish reaction of an adult woman to the fact that she didn't get a children's dish." So both sides present the situation in the same way: The customer wanted a children's schnitzel, but didn't get it. Of course, at 10.20 euros, the dish is quite cheap – as can be read on the children's menu ("exclusively for children up to 13 years of age!"), which is also posted. The restaurant visitor's attempt to order the children's schnitzel for the daughter present and then eat it herself was seen through and prevented by the "Leinen-Los" team. Then the situation escalated via Google review and became part of a public discussion.

Children's schnitzel scandal on the Baltic Sea: Many just shake their heads

There are dozens of comments under the post – the overwhelming majority side with the Baltic Sea restaurant. So it says: "Don't get angry about such stupid people", "Kindergarten can only be said about it", "Well, it's very funny of her", "Without words such people", "Finally something to laugh about again", "Cool of you to post this here. Such stupid, small-minded remarks should be made much more public or "Well, we would love to come back to you on vacation".

One user is a bit more critical: "There are restaurants that have been offering senior citizens' plates for a long time, so it's just a portion like a children's plate. Just be flexible!!," she demands. The reaction of a "Leinen-Los" employee: "We've always had it, but it should be a children's schnitzel! We are very flexible, even had guests who shared the venison goulash. In this case, they simply wanted to fall back on the children's prices."

According to her account, there was even a reference to the seniors' plate. "Then the vegetables were not included, what is included in the children's schnitzel, no problem, we can serve it for an extra charge. They didn't want that either. It was about the price here." Her unequivocal conclusion: "Adults don't get a children's discount in other facilities either." The critical user is now convinced: "Well, then they can't be helped, then they should have left the restaurant immediately after receiving the food suggestions." Also in northern Germany, there was recently stress because a restaurant customer was annoyed about extra costs for an extra request. (lin)
