The police are making progress in the eviction of the tree houses of demonstrators against the controversial expansion of the southern expressway in Hanover. The tree houses near a permanent vigil of climate and environmental activists have been cleared, and six demonstrators have voluntarily left the protest camp called "Tümpeltown", said a police spokeswoman on Monday.
Hanover - An eviction, for example, of the tree houses of "Tümpeltown" in the Leinemasch is no longer planned on this day.
On Monday morning, the clearing for the expansion had begun. According to a spokesman for the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport, it is one of the largest transport projects in Lower Saxony with a volume of around 580 million euros, designed for ten years - financed by the federal government. For months, environmentalists and climate activists have been protesting against what they see as an oversized project. Dpa
