Highlights: The ball is in the court of municipalities in the district of Freising. The Regional Planning Association has adopted the preliminary draft of a control concept for wind energy. The total area of the 22 priority areas listed is 12,659 hectares, which corresponds to 2.3 percent of the region's area. The statutory requirement is 1.1 percent. The municipalities would do well to get involved now, says Freising's District Administrator Helmut Petz. The steering concept is to be presented and adopted in the second half of 2024 according to RPV specifications.

The Regional Planning Association has adopted the preliminary draft of a control concept for wind energy. Now the municipalities in the district of Freising are also in demand.

District of Freising – It has been the path mapped out since the onshore wind law was introduced and thus the 10H regulation in Bavaria was repealed: The regional planning associations (RPV) are responsible for the designation of priority areas. Freising's District Administrator Helmut Petz never tires of pointing out the big but: The RPV for Region 14, to which Freising belongs, will of course be based on the wishes and plans of the municipalities.

After the preliminary draft of a control concept for areas for the use of wind energy has been developed with the participation of an advisory board, which also includes Petz and Langenbach's mayor Susanne Hoyer as a deputy, and adopted by the RPV assembly, the ball is now in the municipalities' court. It is important to present one's own plans and ideas about where and how many wind turbines could and should be erected in the municipal area – if such are available. "The municipalities would do well to get involved now," Petz appeals when asked by FT. This is absolutely necessary so that the ideas of the individual municipalities are taken into account and incorporated into the steering concept, which is to be presented and adopted in the second half of 2024 according to RPV specifications. Petz emphasizes that his and Hoyer's participation in the advisory board had already borne fruit in the preparation of the preliminary draft, because it was possible to incorporate the wishes of the district municipalities at one point or another.

The total area of the priority areas corresponds to 2.3 per cent of the region

A total of 22 priority areas are now included in the preliminary draft, which lists areas of the municipalities of Allershausen, Hohenkammer, Paunzhausen, Fahrenzhausen, Kirchdorf and Wolfersdorf in the west, Eching and Hallbergmoos in the south as well as Gammelsdorf, Hörgertshausen, Mauern, Nandlstadt, Wang and Au in the north of the district. The total area of the 22 priority areas listed is 12,659 hectares, which corresponds to 2.3 percent of the region's area. The statutory requirement is 1.1 percent.

Now it is time for the informal pre-participation procedure, in which the members of the RPV Munich, the neighbouring RPVs and important public interest bodies are involved. The participation period for members is around eight weeks. The mayors will be informed of this in a timely manner at the mayoral service meeting this Tuesday. The documents can be viewed on the website of the Munich Regional Planning Association: region-muenchen.com under the tabs "News" and "Press Releases".
