A 46-year-old factory worker died inan industrial accident in Abruzzo on Monday, the latest in aspate of fatal workplace accidents that has continued at a rateof more than one a week despite action by successivegovernments.
The man, from Lanciano, was hit in the abdomen by a metal tubespewed out of a machine press he was working on, and died soonafter being critically injured.
The machinery has been sequestered by police in the factory inthe Val di Sangro area.
