"SPORTABILITY" is the title of the event on 18 January that focuses on the concept of sport and diversity, a theme to which the Federico Caffè Institute in Rome is very sensitive, having gained considerable attention over the years to the theme of inclusion.
In the 2023/24 school year, the school had 40 support teachers, 11 specialist assistants, 1 communication assistant, 1 typhlodidact, more than 50 disabled pupils including two students in wheelchairs, about 300 students with special educational needs.
Children with disabilities are fully included in all the activities that the school offers and they live the school feeling truly part of it.
They participate in organized guided tours, educational trips and any educational initiative put in place (cinema, theater for example) The teaching staff cooperates in synergy with shared goals and objectives.
The enrolment of a disabled pupil has never been refused: pupils with disabilities are welcomed in exactly the same way as able-bodied pupils, if anything with greater attention.
On 18 January, the day on which the real protagonists are the disabled students, some of them, Italian Paralympic champions for example in the shot put or in synchronised swimming, will tell their experience as young people who have been successful by conquering top positions at national level.
Parents will also testify about their own experience of integration within the Institute. Videos and films will be shown.
The day will include an internal moment that will take place in the Aula Magna starting at 9.30 a.m. and an outdoor moment at the school structure where we will use our excellent sports facilities (soccer fields, volleyball, basketball, athletics track, etc.) to offer sports activities such as a social football match and other sports exhibitions. In the first part that will develop between 10.00 and 12.00 approximately. in the presence of the Minister of Sport and the President of the Paralympic Committee, the students and teachers will give testimony of the experience of inclusion lived at Federico Caffè and will tell about the sporting results achieved and their stories.
