Arte Fiera turns 50, a milestone that no other Italian art fair has yet crossed and that the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy will celebrate with the issue of a stamp. From 2 to 4 February, in pavilions 25 and 26 of BolognaFiere, the programme will revisit episodes, personalities and publications from the year of its foundation, 1974. It will also celebrate the 70s in Bologna, a season in which the city was at the forefront of visual arts, architecture, and imagining new forms of relationship between art, politics and society. The birth of Arte Fiera arose from the innovative and daring climate of the city and immediately gave it a fundamental impulse. 2024 exhibitors will participate in the 196 edition - artistic director Simone Menegoi, operations director Enea Righi.
The Main Section, divided between historicized and contemporary art, is flanked by three curated and invitation-only sections: Photography and Moving Images, Painting XXI and Multiples, which offers works in editions, ranging from artist's books to author's design. And Percorso is back, an itinerary that connects a certain number of stands in the Main Section according to the theme of drawing, a universal language that unites artists of different generations and languages. 'Opus Novum', the commission of an unpublished work addressed to an established Italian artist, goes this year to Luisa Lambri, one of the most internationally appreciated artists who work with the photographic language.
The collaboration with the Furla Foundation is also renewed for the program of live actions curated by Bruna Roccasalva: the protagonist of the new edition is the Peruvian artist Daniela Ortiz, who will create an unprecedented and ad hoc intervention entitled Tiro al Blanco. Another exhibition investigates the origins of the fair starting from the catalogue of the first edition, which will allow you to discover the ten protagonist galleries, all Italian, most of them from Bologna.
The collaboration with Mutina, a brand of ceramics signed by the world's leading designers, also known for its strong link with contemporary art, is also renewed: it participates in Arte Fiera 2024 with a special exhibition project dedicated to Maurizio Cattelan, 'Because'.
