War in the Red Sea: The US Navy announced on Tuesday a significant seizure of Iranian weapons sent by the Revolutionary Guards to Houthi rebels in Yemen that could have been used by the terrorist organization for attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.
According to a statement issued by the U.S. Army Central Command, a Navy SEAL force captured anti-ship cruise missiles, ballistic and anti-ship missile parts, as well as components used in anti-aircraft missile systems. In addition, warheads for several types of missiles were found.
The captured boat, in a dhow-class fishing corner, a traditional wooden vessel with Latin sailing sails, was sunk after the action. The U.S. military command said the 14 crew members on board were captured and are being treated "in accordance with international law."

This is the first capture of Iranian weapons on their way into the hands of the Houthi rebels since the Yemeni rebels began attacking maritime traffic in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in response to the fighting in the Gaza Strip. In the past, the United States seized large quantities of weapons sent from Iran to the Houthi rebels, but the current capture is characterized by a large quantity of sophisticated and high-quality weapons.

"It is clear that Iran continues to send advanced lethal aid to the Houthis. This is yet another example of Iran sowing instability throughout the region in complete violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216 and international law. We will continue to work with regional and international partners to expose and stop these efforts to ensure freedom of navigation," wrote Gen. Michael Eric Kurilla, commander of U.S. Army Central Command.
