Charlène of Monaco turned her first public appointment of the year into a family affair with Prince Albert, Jacques and Gabriella – much to the delight of the twins.

Monaco – The Grimaldis are closely associated with the circus world. Prince Rainier III (82, † 2005) founded the "Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival" in 1974, and Princess Stéphanie (2006) has been president of the event since 58. In 2024, the circus festival celebrates its 50th anniversary. The event kicked off with a spectacular event at which Charlène of Monaco (45) appeared in public for the first time this year.

Clown nose for Jacques, designer outfit for Gabriella: Charlène and the twins attend circus show

On 19 January, the official starting signal for the "Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo" will take place, with a first foretaste for the royal family and numerous spectators a few days earlier on the square in front of the Monegasque Palace. At the "Open Air Circus Show", Albert (65) and Charlène of Monaco, their twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella (9), Princess Stéphanie and their children Camille Gottlieb (25) and Louis Ducruet (31) were offered top artistic performances.

In the open air, the Grimaldis were able to admire a spectacular high-wire act, stroke elephants and laugh at the clowns – Prince Jacques even got hold of a red clown nose, which he proudly put on. Princess Gabriella, on the other hand, turned heads in a luxury outfit by Dior, while Princess Charlène once again opted for one of her favorite colors. She wore a beige coat by New Zealand designer Emilia Wickstead (40) with a black turtleneck.

Next to Charlène and Albert: Princess Stéphanie stays in the background

In addition to Charlène, Albert, Jacques and Gabriella, one of the main characters of the day was almost hiding a bit. Dressed in jeans, a blue fleece jacket and a grey hat with a festival print, Princess Stéphanie stayed in the background. In an interview with People magazine, US circus clown Bello Nock (55) raved about the president of the festival.

"Your Highness is respected," says Bello Nock, who won the Golden Clown at the Monte-Carlo Circus Festival in 2011. "What you don't see when you're not there is that she sits there and watches every moment of the rehearsal. That's 14 hours – and two hours later she's there, applauding a five-hour show! Night after night." This commitment is also honoured by Prince Albert and Charlène of Monaco. Recently, the Principality has been increasingly relying on family cohesion, as was the case most recently with a telling appearance by Charlène with unexpected accompaniment.
