Aira, a Swedish company that offers heat pumps, photovoltaic panels and other clean energy technologies, has completed a €145 million Series B funding round, in which European, Asian and US investors focused on climate technologies participated.
The leaders of the financing, which exceeded the initial target of 85 million, were Altor, Kinnevik and Temasek, who were joined by the Burda family, Collaborative Fund, Creades, Nesta Impact Investments, Statkraft Ventures and Lingotto, an investment company of Exor, the holding company of the Agnelli family, which was already among the financiers of Aira.
"The equity funding will allow Airadi to further accelerate the electrification of residential heating in Europe to enable European households to reduce energy bills, promote decarbonisation and reduce dependence on natural gas imports" Aira recalls that in Europe there are still 130 million gas boilers in use and that domestic heating represents the third source of CO2 emissions and 10% of the Old Continent's total emissions. In addition to equity funding, the Polish government has awarded Aira €15 million for the creation of a production site in Poland for the production of heat pumps.
Aira, thanks to the resources raised, aims for a rapid and continuous expansion in Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom, with the aim of serving five million homes with clean energy technology solutions in the next decade, introducing monthly payment models to make solutions accessible to individuals and expanding the portfolio of clean energy technologies.
"The completion of our Series B financing makes us well capitalised and poised to accelerate the expansion of our pan-European platform, significantly reducing both heating bills for households and carbon emissions across Europe," commented CEO Martin Lewerth.
