Landsberg – Victory and defeat were very close for the Riverkings last weekend. In the first game, HCL faced Königsbrunn. The Swabians are a direct competitor for a place in the play-offs. On Sunday, the Riverkings went to Miesbach.
The Riverkings showed a fighting performance against Königsbrunn from the start, with the focus on defense. Königsbrunn was visually superior, but had few compelling chances. The first goal was scored for HCL. Frantisek Wagner surprised Königsbrunn goalie David Blaschta with a hidden shot to make it 1-0. With this result, the team went into the first period break.
The Riverkings started the second period with two men down. However, they defended very cleverly and survived the situation without conceding a goal. In the 34th minute of the game, Lukas Hess was able to increase the lead to 2-0 with a man advantage. However, the ex-Landsberg Dominic Erdle was able to reduce the deficit to 2:1.
In the last period of the game, Peter Brückner was also able to equalize with a man advantage to make it 2-2. Now the game was threatening to tip over. In the middle of the Königsbrunn pressure phase, however, Dennis Neal managed to take a 3-2 lead for HC Landsberg. In the last four minutes, Korbinian Benz scored with a precise shot to make it 4-2. In the last two minutes of the game, Markus Jänichen and again Frantisek Wagner once again overcame the ex-Landsberg goalkeeper Blaschta and ensured the final score of 6:2.
In Sunday's game at TEV Miesbach, goalkeeper Michael Güssbacher guarded the Landsberg goal. Moritz Borst will miss three games for the HCL due to his studies.
Big mistake
In a very disjointed opening phase, the Riverkings conceded the first goal after just 40 seconds. After a catastrophic mistake in the Landsberg defense, Patrick Asselin only had to slide in from a meter away. As a result, the game developed a lot of pace, but there were also many inaccuracies. In the 16th minute of the game, it was Florian Feuerreiter who was able to make it 2-0 in a Landsberg superiority. Actually, this goal was an unfortunate own goal by Landsberg defender Edgar Protcenko. Less than 20 seconds later, however, HCL was able to celebrate: Lars Grözinger scored the 2-1 goal. Before the break, Bohumil Slavicek increased the lead to 3-1 at the break.
In the second period, Miesbach had a slight advantage, but Landsberg came into the game better. And Landsberg's goalkeeper Michael Güssbacher saved all of Miesbach's attempts.
In the final third, the Riverkings tried everything to get close again. But it was Aziz Ehliz in the 49th minute who was able to score the 4:1 again with a man advantage. Landsberg also tried to take the goalie off the ice in two power play situations and thus gain an additional advantage. However, this did not succeed - on the contrary: When Edgar Protcenko lost the disc at his own blue line, Felix Feuerreiter was able to push the puck unchallenged into the empty Landsberg goal. Shortly before the end, Aziz Ehliz scored his second goal to make it 6-1.
