An IDF soldier was moderately wounded Monday night (Monday-Tuesday) during an exchange of fire on the Egyptian border, after about 20 suspects, including several armed men, arrived from Egyptian territory in the border area near Fatah Nitzana. Apparently in order to smuggle drugs into Israeli territory.

The female fighter was evacuated to hospital for medical treatment. Later on, her condition improved and she is now defined as mild, her family has been updated.

IDF soldiers operating in the area opened fire at the armed men, and a number of hits were identified. According to the IDF Spokesperson, the suspects apparently came with the intention of smuggling drugs into Israel. An Egyptian security source told Al-Qahira Al-Ahbariya TV that the Egyptian army had foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs along the border with Israel. It was also reported that six suspects were arrested.
