The CSU local chapters of Wielenbach, Raisting and Pähl cleverly bundled their New Year's receptions into one event and were thus able to look forward to a full citizens' hall and illustrious guest speakers.

Wielenbach – In the first weeks of January, prominent politicians of all stripes are spoilt for choice from dozens of invitations. At the beginning of the year, each local chapter would like to adorn itself with high-ranking names. For the Member of the European Parliament Prof. Dr. Angelika Niebler, the Member of the State Parliament Harald Kühn and District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß, there was nothing to think about at the triple CSU appointment in the Wielenbach Bürgersaal because of the practical bundling. The CSU local chairmen Josef Sporer (Wielenbach), Rüdiger Herrmann (Raisting) and Hans Weber (Pähl) were able to welcome them at their joint start of the year with sparkling wine and goulash soup.

The guest speakers agreed on one thing: Germany has the worst federal government of all time with the traffic lights. According to Harald Kühn, it harms the country and does not present a good image in terms of public image. Prof. Dr. Niebler, who has represented the CSU in the European Parliament since 1999, put it even more drastically: The traffic light "is through in Brussels", has lost trust and has hardly any influence. It is not acceptable that Germany always thinks too long, as it did with the arms deliveries to Ukraine, and is the last to agree. The "green ideology in its purest form" is also represented in Brussels. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, for example, has said that Germany still has free capacity for refugees.

District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß was able to counter this in her speech. At the moment, 110 refugees per month are allocated to the district of Weilheim-Schongau, although there is almost no housing left. The only way out is to set up thermal halls. Especially since experience has shown that the number of refugees will increase after the winter. "The undiminished pressure caused by unchecked and unstructured migration, at least in parts, can hardly be managed," said the district administrator. Member of the Bundestag Harald Kühn: "Half the world wants to come to us because we are doing well, because we have managed well!"

Of course, Andrea Jochner-Weiß also addressed the precarious hospital situation in the district, which was of particular interest to the older visitors: "In order to save our hospital GmbH from insolvency and thus secure more than a thousand jobs as well as clinical care, we unfortunately had to dismiss over 200 employees." Now, however, there is a clear plan. Weilheim will remain a primary care provider and Schongau will become an outpatient health centre. Hospitals all over Germany are sick, according to the district administrator. The total monthly deficit in Bavaria alone amounts to 105 million euros. In this context, MdL Harald Kühn criticized the fact that the hospital reform promised by Health Minister Lauterbach for the beginning of January 2024 is still a long time coming.

According to the district administrator, the district is facing a difficult financial situation. Challenges such as inflation, an increase in personnel costs due to collective bargaining agreements or an uncertain income situation due to reform projects such as the Growth Opportunities Act have to be overcome.

Despite all the problems, Andrea Jochner-Weiß also had positive things to report. Such as the district's entry into the MVV fare network. From the timetable change in December 2024, it will be possible to travel at MVV conditions. She has fond memories of the fact that the district was allowed to be a "host town" for athletes from Cuba. For the participants of the "Special Olympics World Games" a loving and varied program has been organized.

Incidentally, all speakers found the current protest actions of the farmers against the traffic light resolutions good, as the CSU has traditionally always been on the side of agriculture.

Wielenbach's Deputy Mayor Christine Ulbrich was proud to announce that the local CSU had already collected 35,000 euros for the renovation and preservation of the famous gem "Hardt Chapel": "Wielenbach is only in all travel guides because of her." The foundations need to be drained, the roof needs new tiles and the whole building needs a new coat of paint after plastering. The spire and the belfry are rotten, which is why the bells have not been ringing for a long time because of the vibration.

Of course, the event was also about the European elections on June 9, 2024. "There is only one cross - and that has to be done with us," Wielenbach's CSU leader Josef Sporer implored the visitors. By the way, the CSU is the only party to put forward a list of candidates from Bavaria who can only be elected in Bavaria. There are currently 29 members of the CDU and CSU in the Group of the European People's Party (EPP) with a total of 182 MEPs.

No celebration without honoring long-serving members. This time, Bernhard Kunz was honored by the Wielenbach chapter for 60 years of membership, Rudolf Blessing and Hans Gröbl for 50 years each and Herrmann Schmidt for 40 years.
