Reutte - On Sunday morning, a 33-year-old man from Germany and a 37-year-old man from Canada are said to have set off for ice climbing in Tyrol in Austria. In doing so, they probably triggered an avalanche that cost the younger of the two his life. As Oe24.at reports, the 37-year-old made an emergency call and was also injured. However, there was no more detailed information about his injuries. According to a police press release, the fatally injured man was from Munich.
The two men had set off on Sunday morning with touring skis from the parking lot of the Ammerwalder Alm and were at the start of the ice climbing tour "Marihuanabam" around 9 o'clock. There they roped up and climbed the ice tour.

After the first route, they set off for the second, which is called "Scotch on the Rocks". The man who was later fatally injured had roped up there first and climbed ahead. In the terrain, which is described as very steep, he released an avalanche after a short time, as is suspected.
Both men were swept away by the avalanche until the rope got stuck on a larger rock below the entrance. Despite his injuries, the 37-year-old was able to make an emergency call. However, the arriving helpers could not save the life of the 33-year-old, the emergency doctor could only determine the death of the man.

Just before Christmas, a man was unable to save his brother despite resuscitation measures after an avalanche accident. The drama took place in the Stubai Valley Alps on the border between Tyrol and South Tyrol. On Christmas itself, a search was carried out in Tyrol for a missing 46-year-old ski tourer, and a 16-year-old was able to dig his twin brother out of an avalanche.
