The former minister, Prof. Amnon Rubinstein, passed away today (Thursday) at the age of 92. Rubinstein, winner of the Israel Prize for Legal Research, served as Minister in four ministries: Communications, Energy, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education.
During his years in politics, as part of the DS party and later Meretz, he contributed a lot to promoting the creation of a constitution for Israel and was the initiator of many bills, among them Basic Law: Human Dignity and Freedom and Basic Law: Freedom of Occupation.
