The 2024 school year in Seine-et-Marne will be marked by the revitalization of the least densely populated areas, through the creation of the first rural educational territory.
This is the announcement, less than eight months before the start of the September school year, from Julie Benetti, rector of the Créteil academy, and Valérie Debuchy, academic director of National Education services in the most rural department. of Île-de-France.

“The first problem in the department is that of the distance, even isolation, of certain students who are sometimes forced to make orientation choices by default,” she explains.
To compensate for these inequalities due to a very disparate territory, communities will be mobilized.
The idea is to make the area attractive for higher education.
This rural educational territory will cover the territory of Provinois, including those of Brie Nangissienne and Bassée-Montois, i.e. a population area of nearly 90,000 inhabitants.
Epicenter of this project: the Pannevelles high school in Provins, the only high school in the department to have vacant places in vocational education and which responded to the “boarding school of rural excellence” call for projects.
