A woman lost her life in a fire Wednesday evening in Clamart.
The fire started in an apartment located on the 2nd floor of this building which has four, rue Pierre-Fermat, in the Trivaux district, on the border with Vélizy (Yvelines).
The firefighters intervened a little before 9 p.m. and quickly put an end to the fire, which completely destroyed the home.
Emergency services then found the occupant of the premises.
Unconscious, she was lying in her bed.
She had been poisoned by the fumes.
Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead immediately.
The body was taken to the Forensic Institute (IML) in Paris to undergo an autopsy.
Neighbors sheltered in a gymnasium
During the intervention of the firefighters, the twenty occupants of the building were evacuated from their homes and were sheltered in a gymnasium open to them nearby.
Everyone was able to return to their homes around midnight.
Experts from the central laboratory of the police headquarters quickly took over the apartment.
The first elements of the investigation favor the possibility of an accidental origin of the fire.
According to findings made on site, the victim suffered from Diogenes syndrome.
This disease is characterized by a behavioral disorder, leading the affected person to live in conditions of neglect and unsanitary conditions, in particular because of the accumulation of waste.
A pathology which therefore significantly increases the risk of domestic fire.
A syndrome also mentioned but not proven in the tragedy that occurred on the night of January 11 to 12, in La Garenne-Colombes, when the charred body of a man was discovered in the smoking remains of his apartment.
