The Provincial Council of Bolzano has elected Arno Kompatscher president of the autonomous province for the third time.
The exponent of the SVP, who will lead a majority with Fdi, Lega, La Civica and Freiheitlichen, received 19 yes and 16 no.
Next week the Council will meet again to elect the councilors of the Kompatscher council.
This is how Kompatscher responded to the opposition's criticism of the alliance with Fdi and Lega, shortly before the vote: "We shouldn't divide everything into good and bad".
According to the president, throughout the debate there was "little talk about content, almost nothing about the programme", but there was talk of "fears and attributions".
Kompatscher confirmed, among other things, the commitment to climate neutrality by 2040. The program is "clear and concrete, also with regard to questions of autonomy".
"Not everything was perfect in the last legislature and not everything in South Tyrol works as it should. But I also ask you to look at the neighboring regions", continued the governor.
"I am not a cynic and I will not become one. I will do my best for Alto Adige", concluded Kompatscher.
