After six years as first mayor, Marlene Greinwald (Free Voters) chaired a meeting of the Tutzingen municipal council, of which she was a member for 34 years, for the last time on Tuesday evening.

After the mayoral election in November, in which she was defeated by the CSU candidate Ludwig Horn, she is leaving office at the end of the month.

Tutzing – At the beginning of the meeting she began with a few personal words.

But she didn't get far.

Dr.

As the eldest, Thomas von Mitschke-Collande (CSU) first wanted to address words of thanks to her on behalf of the local council.

“In your six years as mayor you have achieved a lot,” said von Mitschke-Collande after presenting Greinwald with a bouquet of flowers.

He mentioned the handover of the high school to the district, the renovation of the elementary and middle school, which is well underway, the Seehof development plan and the renovation of the main street, which Greinwald has accepted and “done well”.

“You had a local council that you actually led quite confidently, even in times that weren’t easy with Covid,” he said.

Greinwald ensured that the committee was not polarized, unlike before.

“Marlene, you can be proud of what you have achieved.

You were a good mayor.

For that we pay you our respect,” concluded von Mitschke-Collande.

Greinwald caused amusement with her reaction: “It wouldn’t have been bad if you had said that before the election,” she replied.

And, in a more serious tone: “It is what it is.” She worked well with the local council, except sometimes during elections.

The panel responded with a standing ovation.

Greinwald expressed her special thanks to the employees in the town hall, where everyone put their whole heart into their work.

Then she moved on to the agenda as chair of the meeting for the last time.
