Actor Alec Baldwin will be tried for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, whom he accidentally shot in 2021 with a prop gun on the set of the film
Rust
.
The decision to charge Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter was announced Friday after a New Mexico grand jury heard evidence presented by special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis.
"We are looking forward to our court date," said two of the actor's attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro of the Quinn Emanuel law firm.
If convicted, Baldwin could face up to 18 months in prison.
So far no trial date has been set.
