The accident that occurred today during a stuntman's performance on the inaugural day of Motor Bike Expo, the international motorcycle show, at the Verona Fair could have had much more serious consequences.

It was 1.30pm when, in one of the external areas of the exhibition centre, a stuntman driving a BMW lost control of the car which crashed into the barriers, overwhelming a group of spectators.

14 people suffered more serious consequences in the collision: when they fell they suffered various bruises which required treatment in hospital for 9 spectators: 3 people in code yellow, therefore not in serious conditions, another 6 in code green, they were transported to the emergency room in Verona at the Borgo Trento hospital and to the hospitals of Negrar di Valpolicella and Villafranca di Verona.

The dynamics of the accident, also released on video, are clear.

The driver was engaged in "drifting" with the car, then left the cockpit and continued the show by remaining seated on the roof of the BMW and operating the steering wheel with one foot.

At that point he lost control of the car which skidded and ended up hitting the barriers, behind which the standing public was crowded.

"He drives his car like this!"

exclaimed the speaker of the show, who already realized the danger before the collision and repeatedly shouted "attention!".

Rescue was immediate and the Suem 118 health workers intervened on site with 5 ambulances, as well as the local police to investigate the case.

Regarding the accident, Veronafiere explained that "it happened during one of the dynamic shows with professional cars and stuntmen".

"Veronafiere - continued the trade fair spa - while regretting what happened and expressing closeness to its visitors, specifies that the health plan was activated immediately, with the intervention of the SUEM vehicles and the Local Police to investigate the case".

"Thanks to the safety barrier, none of these suffered serious injuries" concluded Veronafiere.

After the accident, all performances in the outdoor areas were suspended.

Motor Bike Expo, now in its thirtieth edition, is scheduled at the Verona Fair until Sunday 21 January, occupying 100 thousand square meters of exhibition space, with 700 exhibitors distributed in 7 pavilions, 6 external areas reserved for races, shows and exhibitions.
