Works of art made from bottle caps, photos, book pages, wire and plexiglass.

Plus fashion made of paper and other materials: prospective high school graduates from Starnberg high school showed all this and much more on Wednesday evening.

It was the first time that the W and P Seminar Art exhibited the works together.

Starnberg – 6,000 bottle caps form the surface of the wave that figuratively washes through the foyer of the auditorium of the Starnberg high school.

With his installation “The Wave”, which weighs around 100 kilos, Leonardo Ruhdorfer not only wants to draw attention to excessive alcohol consumption, but also to the pollution of the oceans.

The work of art contains just one of many messages that can be found since Wednesday evening as part of the exhibition of both art seminars of the current high school graduate class.

While the science preparatory seminar (W-Seminar) “The Pleasure of Deception”, led by teacher Elisabeth Güllich, took up one side of the foyer, the other was dedicated to the practical seminar (P-Seminar) “Animal Print” by teacher Fritz Güllich of fashion.

It presented 15 pieces of paper clothing and 15 self-sewn clothes with the corresponding page from a fictitious fashion magazine as well as drawings in which the students trace animal material.

“The seminars have stimulated each other,” said Elisabeth Güllich, who is overseeing a W seminar for the seventh time.

A glimpse into the profound works of art

An example of this “fertilization” was shown in the work of Luca Dirrigl, who took part in both seminars with four other students.

The “Cover of Memories”, a sewn coat made of photos, book pages and maps, tells the story of her deceased great aunt in the W seminar and is intended to be a homage to life.

In the P seminar she dealt with the question “What is fashion?” and, among other things, created a paper dress made of delicate stripes and rolls.

Nikolija Glamocanin also worked in both seminars.

With a “damaged” T-shirt she wants to appeal to perseverance in interpersonal relationships.

In her work, Mia Etter focuses on the “fascinating transformation of a butterfly”.

Her paper dress consists of a braided top with a sweeping pleated skirt.

Valentina Scharl made a pottery head with closed eyes, which is intended to evoke an oppressive emotional state in view of the political situation.

Enjoy life in its colorful facets and recognize the beautiful moments: This is what Nilofar Saburi wants to show with the mobile “Flowerwork” made of crepe paper flowers.

Isidora Ciger and four other students only took the W seminar.

Her sewn quilt shows 20 pictures of people who have fallen asleep due to exhaustion - an appeal to listen to your body.

Sophia Schramm deals with the interaction of nature and technology.

It combines four colorful canvases through a Plexiglas plate with factual texts and explanations of terms about the work of art “Bionics”.

Jewel Visochkova also took out her brushes for his triptych “Star Sealed” and talks about eternity and finiteness.

Laura Voigt shows that negative experiences can dampen the joy of life.

She has bent a two-dimensional face out of wire and wants to give more meaning to positive things.

Headteachers and teachers are full of pride

The P seminar alone was attended by Lilly Dittmar, Juli Haselhorst, Mariella Herget, Caroline Jähring, Benjamin Kirschnek, Johanna Kröner, Jana Mändle, Lisa Picker, Pauline Schweins and Theresa Zoglauer, whose impressive items of clothing ranged from denim to Barbie.

Course leader Fritz Güllich was more than satisfied: “That’s what you want as a teacher: to help a person grow beyond themselves.” Headmaster Thomas Volz was also impressed by the “creative power”.

He liked the fact that the two seminars were exhibiting together for the first time: “Art comes from two sides and meets in aesthetics.” The opening was almost essential for Elisabeth Güllich.

“It is important that they are allowed to shine,” emphasized the teacher and added: “I am proud of my students.”
