Dormitz - A fire broke out on Tuesday evening, January 16th, in an extension to a residential building in Dormitz (Forchheim district).
The cause of the fire is still unclear and is being investigated by the Bamberg criminal police.

Fire in Dormitz: the extension of a residential building is on fire
Passers-by noticed smoke on Dormitz's main street around 9 p.m. and called the emergency number.
Police and fire departments from the area were quickly at the scene.
When they arrived, the extension to the house was already ablaze.

Fighting the fire took several hours.
Thanks to the efforts of around 90 firefighters, the flames were prevented from spreading to the main building.

Residents uninjured: emergency services rescue dogs and cats from the building
Fortunately, the residents of the two-family house were able to get to safety uninjured, while the rescue workers got a total of eight dogs and cats out of the building.
According to initial estimates, the material damage amounts to around 80,000 euros.
The Bamberg criminal police have begun investigating the cause of the fire.
