This is reported by, among others

, smago.de

,

schlagerprofis.de

and the

Westerwälder Zeitung

.

On his homepage, which is worth seeing, he traced the stages of his life with numerous private photos.

The first picture in 1949 shows him as a baby with the sentence “Here I am!”; that year he was born as Ullrich Remy in Gelsenkirchen.

The last stop is dated 2018.

“On May 1st I will give my last concert in the magical atmosphere of the Historica vault in Montabaur,” he wrote.

“I hope I still have a few books or symphonies left in me.” But sadly, Remy has now left the stage forever.

Ulrik Remy even made it into the charts with “The Pub”.

None other than Karl Dall gave Ulrik Remy his first record deal.

His most famous song was the springboard to his career: “The Pub”.

He wrote the song about his local bar, “Gilbert's Pinte” in Cologne.

The song climbed to number 20 in the German singles charts in 1974. According to

Smago.de,

he called his song “drunkard’s anthem” with a wink.

Success didn't just have advantages.

According to a

biography published by the record label and distributor

Bear Family , Remy said: “In the music machine sector, my single achieved an occupancy rate of 118 percent, as worn-out records had to be replaced.

Looking back, I have to say that the great success of this song unfortunately overshadowed the rest of my work a little.”

As a musician, he never wanted to be pigeonholed.

“Herbert von Karajan once said that there is no difference between styles of music, only between good and bad music.

And that’s how I see it too,” Remy once told

Trierischer Volksfreund

.

With the song “Ich bin aus'm Westerwald” Remy delivered an unofficial Westerwald anthem without coming from there.

Ulrik Remy: Schlager parody was taken too seriously - “How embarrassing that was for me”

Ulrik Remy even made an excursion into the hit area that was taken more seriously than it was intended.

“'Roses for Mama' was conceived as a parody of the German hit song that was still popular at the time,” he once said on

music4ever.de

.

“Ingfried Hoffmann and I really pulled out all the stops of this art form when arranging it - with the totally unintended result that the thing was actually played in pop parades and Mother's Day wish concerts.

I can't tell you how embarrassed I was!

It was like telling a joke and someone laughs in the wrong place.”

According to media reports, Ulrik Remy was found dead in his apartment in Aachen on January 11, 2024, and his dog Honey was taken to an animal shelter.

The cause of death was not initially known, but health problems were cited as a reason for his retirement from the stage in 2018.
