The customs service seized more than 1.3 tonnes of cannabis on the A39 motorway, in a truck registered in Germany and coming from Spain, the Lons-le-Saunier prosecutor's office said on Friday January 19.
Customs officers from the Lons-le-Saunier brigade checked this heavy goods vehicle driven by a Romanian driver on Tuesday at the Arlay rest area (Jura), prosecutor Julie Fergane told AFP, confirming information from the newspaper

They discovered 1,270 tonnes of cannabis pollen and 73 kilos of packaged cannabis resin, partly hidden under a load of wood.
The driver should be tried on Monday in immediate appearance by the Lons-le-Saunier criminal court, according to the prosecutor.

, this is a record cannabis seizure for the Jura department.
The previous largest seizure by Jura customs officers dates back to March 2023 with 1.2 tonnes of cannabis pollen.
