The notice of assembly was filed by the CGT of active and retired territorial staff of the City of Mérignac, this Friday.
Struck by their difficulties in making themselves heard during the riots in the cities which engulfed France after the death of young Nahel, the municipal police decided to structure themselves.
Since June 19, 2023, they have united within the departmental association of municipal police officers of Gironde.
“
During the urban violence in the spring, the only one of our representatives who was heard in the media was our national representative
,” explains the main brigadier-chief of Mérignac, Marc Belvisi.
And if this Gironde association “
is not a union
”, as its new general secretary insists, it has decided to participate in the national strike announced on February 3.

Up to 400 municipal police officers mobilized
Declared at the prefecture on Friday, the gathering which will be held in front of the prefecture of Nouvelle Aquitaine and Gironde, from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., is expected to bring together up to 400 municipal police officers from across the region.
At the heart of their demands: “
the career path and remuneration
” of these agents, who take up their duties with a salary close to the minimum wage for the lowest level.
To change the situation, the association of municipal police officers of Gironde intends in particular to obtain the taking into account of their special operating allowance (ISF) in the calculation of pensions.
