In March, car train traffic to the island of Sylt will be stopped for a few days - regional trains only run to Morsum.
Travelers should therefore inform themselves in advance and use alternative buses and ferries.
Westerland - In March there will be no car trains running between the mainland and the island of Sylt for three days - however, passenger trains will still reach Morsum.
The reason for this is the commissioning of a new electronic signal box, as Deutsche Bahn announced on Tuesday.
Overall, the old signal boxes in Westerland on Sylt and the North Frisian cities of Niebüll and Tönning would be replaced.
In addition, Westerland train station will be connected to the existing electronic signal box in Keitum.
Extensive construction work has already been carried out and around 40 signals have been erected.
According to the railway, work on the train station in Westerland is nearing completion.
The blue car train from competitor RDC Deutschland also announced that no trains could run to Sylt and asked travelers and commuters to take this into account when planning.
According to Deutsche Bahn, buses should replace the regional trains between Morsum and Westerland.
Cars, trucks or other vehicles that need to get to the island could also use the ferries.
