Highlights: Starting signal not without concerns: Landsberied wants to plan a senior center. With a vote of 10:3, the local council has now passed the decision to set up the project. The senior center is intended to house day care and assisted living in 70 rooms and 25 apartments. “For me personally, this is a bit too big,” explained Bernhard Förg (FW Einigkeit). “A smaller size would be uneconomical. We wouldn't find an investor for that," contradicted senior citizen and deputy mayor Hubert Ficker.

So far there have only been preliminary discussions.

Now the local government of Landsberied wants to officially start the construction of a senior center by the Franconian company Schellmann.

Landsberied - The senior center in Landsberied is to come: With a vote of 10:3, the local council has now passed the decision to set up the project.

But the voting result also made it clear: the concerns are greater than initially assumed.

expression of will

It didn't help that Mayor Andrea Schweitzer (Free Voters Unity) emphasized at the beginning that a decision to set up a coalition was just a kind of expression of will.

This is just the starting signal for numerous reports that ultimately set the framework for the actual construction planning.

“If reports and objections show that nothing works, everything stays the same,” explained Schweitzer.

The reports on the construction of the senior center primarily concern the noise emitted by the adjacent sports facilities.

The clubs had been promised that they would not have to fear any restrictions because of the planned senior center.

Too big?

What struck those local council members who ultimately voted against the construction decision was the extent of the planned building, which is intended to house day care and assisted living in 70 rooms and 25 apartments.

“For me personally, this is a bit too big,” explained Bernhard Förg (FW Einigkeit).

If the size were reduced by a third, he could live with that.

“A smaller size would be uneconomical.

We wouldn't find an investor for that," contradicted senior citizen and deputy mayor Hubert Ficker (CSU).

They specifically asked around at surrounding facilities, which confirmed this assessment.

Ficker spoke of a unique opportunity for Landsberied.

“We should use them.”

The social aspect

Finance officer Helmut Hoffmann (FW Einigkeit) explained that the community would probably not pay extra as a result of the project.

The so-called Tennisplatzstrasse would have to be expanded.

However, the municipality would recoup the costs through the allocations for the residents of the senior center.

And because they almost certainly don't bring any children with them, the money actually stays with the municipality and doesn't have to be invested in expanding infrastructure such as additional kindergarten places.

The investor bears all other costs for planning and construction anyway.

Especially since Hoffmann also appealed not to just look at the money.

“The social aspect should take priority.”
