It was 20 seconds of tension.
First, they got out of a car armed.
Later,
they pointed a gun at them
to steal the vehicle in which they were traveling.
The victims were the wife of an Almagro goalkeeper and her three-year-old son.
A neighbor activated the neighborhood alarm and caused the criminals to escape with only a wallet and a family cell phone.
Everything happened in the Buenos Aires town of
Caseros
and was filmed.
The dramatic episode, which was recorded by one of the security cameras that the residents of the area have, occurred this Thursday at 10 p.m. on
Florencio Varela Street at 3100
, corner of Bartolomé Miter, about 15 blocks from General Paz Avenue.
Jenifer López, partner of goalkeeper
Emiliano González
who plays for the Almagro club in the second division of Argentine soccer, was on board her car stopped with beacons.
Her 3-year-old son was traveling with her.
It was at that moment when a white Fiat Bravo suddenly braked in front of him.
Three armed criminals
immediately got out
.
One of them pointed it at the family and opened the driver's side door.
The woman tried to accelerate, but she could not escape since the thieves' vehicle was blocking the way.
In the midst of nerves, and to protect her son, Jenifer tried to remove her seat belt to get out of the vehicle but she couldn't.
Meanwhile, another of the criminals crossed to the passenger door, opened it and took the boy's cell phone out of his hands.
A neighbor realized the situation and
began shouting to warn another to activate the alarm
they have in the area.
Upon hearing the sound, the thieves ran towards the car in which they had arrived and fled at full speed.
They couldn't take González's family's car, but they did
steal Jenifer's wallet and cell phone,
which was in the boy's hands.
Emiliano González, goalkeeper from Almagro and husband of the victim.
In dialogue with
Clarín
, Esteban - the neighbor who activated the neighborhood alarm - said that he was having dinner at home with his family when
they began to hear screams.
He looked out the window and saw the robbers attacking the woman.
"They struggled and they could not remove the seat belts from either the woman or the child. In a moment of desperation, one of the thieves went to the passenger side where the child was and,
pointing at his head, took out his cell phone
. The other two were left struggling with the woman," he said.
"We stayed inside because
you don't know if they can shoot you during the volley.
The neighbor across the street asked us to activate the alarm and I had the key with me so I activated it instantly," he added about those moments of tension and uncertainty.
Although he highlighted that the monitoring team called him after 3 minutes on his cell phone, which is associated with the alarm, he said that the patrol car only arrived half an hour later.
After the criminals fled, he said that Jenifer stayed inside the car in a state of shock and was assisted by neighbors.
"The boy didn't want to get out of the car, he was very afraid
," she said.
The employees of an ice cream parlor on the corner lent Jenifer a cell phone so she could communicate with her partner, Almagro goalkeeper Emiliano González, who is returning from an injury.
The 25-year-old from Córdoba began his career at Estudiantes de La Plata and was Mariano Andújar's substitute until 2002, when he arrived at the Tres de Febrero club.
Until this Friday at noon, the criminals remained at large.
The white vehicle in which they were traveling was also wanted.
Through the patent, it was learned that
he had been stolen in a previous robbery.
