A plate for 1 euro, children's pants for 2 euros, a beige cable-knit sweater for 4 euros, a chair for 7 euros, a car seat for 10 euros… There are only good deals here.

The first resource center managed by the Paris Est Marne et Bois agglomeration opened its doors this Saturday at the port of Bonneuil-sur-Marne.

These second-hand items sold at low prices all come from donations, collected by the intercommunality.

In short, less waste and a new life offered to these carefully sorted objects.

“We wash and iron each item of clothing put on sale for example,” underlines one of the managers.

In total, the team has 344 m2.

Bonneuil-sur-Marne, January 20.

Olivier Capitanio, president of the agglomeration and the department, came to visit and inaugurate the premises.

“We will regularly organize workshops and events, such as a zero waste evening, in order to make it a place to live and diversify the reasons for coming here,” we explain at Paris Est Marne et Bois.

This Saturday, the Habitudes association in Fontenay-sous-Bois explained how to customize or transform stained or holed clothing rather than throwing it away.

Members of Ecocityzen showed how to wrap a gift with fabric using a Japanese technique rather than using gift paper, which will be thrown away as soon as the present is unwrapped.

Synergy with the neighboring recycling center

The location of the resource center was not chosen at random.

The establishment is located right next to the new intercommunal recycling center, open in September 2022. The latter has the particularity of evacuating its waste by the river, therefore avoiding trucks on the road.

“The resource center will perhaps benefit from synergy with the recycling center, which already has 250 to 300 visits on weekends alone,” confides Olivier Capitanio (LR), president of Paris Est Marne et Bois.

People coming to throw away materials could take the opportunity to drop off certain items at the resource center that deserve a second life, but which they might not have taken the trouble to sort if the two places were not next to each other.

The shelves are still sparsely stocked in the eyes of Claudia and Martine, who came from Maisons-Alfort: “We expected something bigger and more extensive.

This has nothing to do with Emmaus centers.

And access is not very easy, nor well signposted.

“Combining ecology and economy”

In order to facilitate donations, “people can also drop them off at the recycling centers in Champigny, Fontenay-sous-Bois, Nogent-sur-Marne and Le Perreux,” explains the territory.

If necessary, we can also come to your home.

Bonneuil-sur-Marne, January 20.

The resource center allows you to find children's and adult's bikes at a very reasonable price.

Another resource center has just opened in Saint-Mandé - associative this time - a few days ago.

“This proves the success of this concept, which combines ecology and economy,” welcomes Olivier Capitanio.

There is no conflict between environmental issues and purchasing power.
