The fiercest fighting in the Ukrainian war is currently taking place around the frontline town of Avdijwka.

Russia is trying to make inroads with perfidious tactics.

Avdiivka – The fighting on the ground has recently increased in intensity again in the Ukraine war.

This emerges from a report from the Ukrainian General Staff on Thursday (January 18).

The fighting was particularly fierce near the front-line town of Avdiivka.

A video from the US news channel

now shows Moscow's tactics: without cover, Russian soldiers throw themselves at the front, and if Ukraine counterattacks - for example with drones - the infantrymen have no chance.

The ground is littered with dying or dead Russian fighters.

Ukraine War: Russian tactics burn soldiers and increase pressure on Ukraine

Soldiers in Ukraine face the horrors of war every day - no matter which side they fight on.

But Russia is particularly ruthless with its own fighters, according to several reports.

A video from the fighting around Avdiivka now shows what this actually means for the Russian infantrymen in the front-line city.

In the footage, numerous armored vehicles and battle tanks initially approach the front, and shortly afterwards Russian soldiers are seen marching on foot without cover.

A Ukrainian drone attack on five soldiers filmed from the air shows that the men are defenseless in the explosion without cover.

These human losses are apparently part of the Kremlin's tactics.

The Russian armed forces would actively use armored vehicles in the Avdiivka direction to support and deploy dismounted infantry, the commander of the Ukrainian Tavriysk group of troops, Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, confirmed, as the US think tank Institute for the Study of War said on Thursday (18). January) reported.

This tactic has resulted in Russian forces losing 41 armored vehicles, including 17 tanks, in the area over the past three days, Tarnawskyi continued.

video also shows the enormous human losses.

“If we use drones to kill 40 to 70 soldiers a day, they will reinforce the troops and attack again the next day,” the drone unit chief told

Ukraine in view of the fighting around Avdiivka: “We need more people, more ammunition”

According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the fighting around the front-line town of Avdiivka is currently the fiercest in the Ukrainian war.

In and around the city close to Russian-controlled Donetsk, 36 battles were recently recorded, it was said on Friday.

Russia has been trying to encircle the Ukrainian defenders there since October.

According to an assessment by the British Ministry of Defense last Tuesday, this is probably Moscow's main target at the moment.

However, Russia has so far only achieved very small gains in terrain and has done so with great losses of material and personnel, according to the British report on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

The northern town of Stepove also remains under Ukrainian control, which secures the supply route to Avdiivka.

“Russian attempts to isolate the city are unlikely at least in the next week,” the ministry in London said.

In the end, the Russian tactic could still work, because the pressure on Ukraine is increasing.

“We need more people, more military, more equipment, more ammunition and more drones,” the drone unit chief told

Ukraine war: US military aid to Kiev about to end?

To date, the United States has been Ukraine's largest Western supporter.

In December last year, the US Department of Defense estimated that military aid provided to Ukraine since February 24, 2022 was over $44 billion.

Since the beginning of the Russian attack, US President Joe Biden has repeatedly reiterated that he will support Ukraine “as long as it is necessary”.

Biden recently spoke of supporting Ukraine with weapons “as long as we can.”

Debates about the federal budget have been going on in Washington for months.

Last Thursday, the US Congress voted for an interim solution, but this excludes the government's requested aid for Ukraine.
