Clever marketing stunt?

If so, then it was successful: with 104 members, the annual general meeting of the Dorfen-Altenerding sport fishing club in the new club restaurant, in the Gasthaus Bachmaier in Pesenlern, was very well attended.

From now on, in contrast to the previous procedure, the fishermen will only receive their annual card if ordered at this very meeting.

Pesenlern – The new chairman Anton Braun mastered his first year in office with flying colors.

The 43-year-old, a civil servant from Maria Thalheim who now lives in Berglern, took over the well-positioned club from veteran Franz Flieher in 2023.

In his first annual review, Braun had mostly positive things to report.

The association currently has 294 members (nine leaving, six new members), including 186 active, 97 passive and 36 young people.

But Braun also criticized: “Unfortunately, participation in the five work assignments on the eight bodies of water was again very poor.” Everyone wants clean water, well-kept lawns and so on.

“In addition, rubbish was often left behind at the fireplaces.

That is not how it works."

The digital age has fully reached the fishermen.

The membership card, the green fishing pass, will be replaced.

In the future there will be two cards for still and flowing waters for annual card fishermen.

The water closure can be viewed on the homepage.

At the request of members, ticket prices should also be visible there in the future.

The purchase of day tickets and the announcement of work assignments should now also take place via email.

“We’re working on it,” promised Braun.

The members have already entered their email addresses in a list.

Secretary Maria Rott reported, among other things, that 109 participants took part in the traditional fishing at the end of April.

The secretary herself won the women's cup with a 566 gram trout.

Bernhard Schott received the Josef Poldinger Memorial Cup with a trout weighing 1,890 grams.

The highlight was the two-day, well-attended fishing festival in September on the Thalheim village square.

During king fishing in October at the Gutbrod pond, Christian Poldinger had the best bait out of 73 participants and a carp weighing 2372 grams.

The honorees (from left): Club vice-president Anton Bichlmaier with Andreas Rossek (25 years of membership), Wolfgang Liebl, Alexander Gerbl (both 10 years), Franz Flieher, Martin Gronegger, Markus Hellinger (all 25 years) and chairman Anton Braun.

According to water warden Adnan Braun, a total of 2,705 fish or 14 different species were stocked in the eight bodies of water.

1138 fish were caught.

According to water warden Walter Gschlößl, 2,472 fish of the species Nose, Barbel, Hazel, Nerflingen and Rutten were used in the species protection program.

The fishermen are particularly proud of their youth: there are 36 children and young people, ten of whom are under ten years old.

Youth director David Hanus let two boys report in a carefree manner about the great youth camp at the Gutbrod pond in July and about the king fishing in October, which Franz Rossek had won with a trout weighing 1,142 grams.

There are currently still 28 euros in the youth fund.

Braun thanked his young people: “You are the future of tomorrow.”

Brigitta Poldinger reported a cash balance of 8,000 euros and income of 4,000 euros.

“We have also finished repaying the loan for the Kellnberger Weiher.” The members unanimously decided to follow the board’s proposal: Of the previous 800 euros in loan costs, 500 euros will be used as a reserve for the possible purchase of new water bodies and 300 euros as maintenance allowance.

Braun and his deputy Anton Bichlmaier honored loyal fishing comrades with certificates for ten or 25 years of membership in the club.

At the end, Braun informed: “With only four annual tickets issued, we on the board have decided to open the Aufhausener Weiher to everyone with day tickets from May 1, 2024.

Think about it for the fishing festival.

We need more people at the grills, especially Saturday has become the main day.” Braun closed the annual general meeting with a “Petri Heil” and reminded: “In the club, community counts.”
