The mother who had kidnapped her baby from the Meaux maternity ward will be interviewed this Saturday by investigators from the SIPJ (Interdepartmental Judicial Police Service).

The young woman, aged 21, quickly left the Sevran police station (Seine-Saint-Denis), where she was in police custody early yesterday evening, to join the investigators' premises in Meaux.

Friday afternoon, a kidnapping alert was triggered by the Ministry of Justice, after the disappearance of the child, kidnapped from the Meaux hospital center the day before, between 7:35 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The mother knew that she could not leave with her baby, who was the subject of a temporary placement with the Seine-Saint-Denis Child Welfare, taken by the Meaux public prosecutor's office.

And this, because of the inappropriate comments and brutal behavior of the mother – former drug addict and homeless – spotted by the hospital nursing staff, since the birth of the baby on December 16.

He was placed in intensive care in a neonatology department for respiratory distress.

Informed on Wednesday January 17 of the temporary placement order depriving her of rights to her child, she left with her child under her arm, thus committing an offense.

Geolocated, his phone had stopped transmitting

Since his kidnapping, the Seine-et-Marne police officers have been on war footing.

The mother's phone having been geolocated in the town of Stains (Seine-Saint-Denis) on Thursday evening, then in Paris in the 10th arrondissement the next day, the staff of the neighboring department as well as that of Paris were mobilized by the the general staff of Seine-et-Marne.

When the young woman's phone stopped transmitting, the anxiety escalated.

Hence the triggering of the kidnapping alert.

It was in Sevran (Seine-Saint-Denis) that the baby's trace was found on Friday, around 6 p.m.

A passerby recognized the mother when she passed her on Avenue de la Paix, near a hospital.

This lady then approached the mother and held her, while calling 17. At the same time, a police patrol arrived on site, the mother's phone having been limited to the area.

The baby — who was well treated — was in good health.

Investigators will have to retrace their exact route between Thursday evening and Friday evening.

At the end of police custody, the Meaux public prosecutor's office will decide on legal action.
