Fishing is suspended for a month in the Bay of Biscay to protect dolphins and porpoises from accidental captures. Fishermen dispute the figures and fear “a fatal blow to the industry”.


Storm warning on the Atlantic coast and in all fishing ports, from Audierne (Finistère) to Saint-Jean-de-Luz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).

From this Monday, January 22 until February 20, fishing is now prohibited in the Bay of Biscay for all boats of eight meters or more equipped with certain models of nets.

spatio-temporal ban

”: a decision by the Council of State aimed at protecting dolphins and porpoises.
