Rottach-Egern - The Tegernsee Mountain Rifle Company held its annual meeting in Rottach-Egern.

The newest member is State Minister Florian Herrmann.

Captain Florian Baier welcomed many celebrities to the annual meeting in the fully occupied Gebirgsschützenhütte, including State Governor Martin Haberfellner.

Also there was Gauhauptmann and captain of the Waakirchen company, Martin Beilhack.

Rifleman curate Father Martin Maier from Essen traveled the furthest to the meeting, accompanied by local rifleman Monsignor Walter Waldschütz.

The support association boss Hasi von Sigriz, “mother of all cake buffets”, was greeted with a special round of applause, and she also contributed an impressive donation of 20,000 euros from her members.

New march for the company

The presence of the company's band, the Gmunder Dorfmusikanten, suggested that the composer Thomas Rebensburg, who also appeared, had a special surprise in store.

The solution to the puzzle: For Captain Florian Baier's recent 60th birthday, Rebensburg had composed his own march for the Tegernsee mountain rifle company, which was played for the first time at the meeting and conducted by the creator himself.

The successful work will accompany all of the company's performances in the future.

“We have had a very fulfilling year of shooting behind us,” reported Baier, which was underlined by the 67 entries made by the recorder.

The company deployed with 205 men at the patron day in Gmund.

There was also a strong turnout at the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Rottach-Egern Volunteer Fire Department.

The forest festival on June 18th in the most beautiful summer weather beat all previous records, with over 120 members fully engaged and the cake buffet alone was a brilliant performance.

During the Leonhardi trip in Kreuth, the mountain riflemen took part in three chest cars.

Baier left the trip to Rome at the beginning of January on the occasion of the first anniversary of the funeral of honorary member Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

“As of today, I am entering my last year as a captain,” announced the popular company commander, who took over the position from his father Fredi Baier in 2009 and does not want to surpass him after 16 years in office.

“It will end in January 2025,” announced the 60-year-old, who started out as a Taferlbub at the age of six.

He has been an active member of the company since 1979.

Kreuth's mayor Josef Bierschneider also spoke on behalf of his colleagues from Tegernsee and Rottach-Egern and described Florian Baier as the head of the company, who always knew how to inspire and motivate the team.

“The mountain riflemen are an integral part of social life in the Tegernsee Valley.

They stand for values, faith and cohesion, especially in these confusing times when attempts are being made to undermine our democracy.”
