The audit focuses on the events of October 7, as we reported last week, the Office of the Chief of Staff received a letter announcing the opening of the audit regarding the October 7 omission by the auditor. In the letter, the auditor
asked to receive documents on: border protection in Gaza, the readiness of the standby units in the area, the perception of national security and the impact On the political echelon and the IDF, ammunition and spare parts before and during the war, the preparation for underground activity, as well as all the work processes in the intelligence community and in front of the political echelon on the information for Hamas offensive plans and the control of the intelligence bodies.

The auditor intends to finish his inspection procedures by July, and voila!
It was learned that until recently some senior members of the IDF had already met with first-rate criminal lawyers in order for them to represent them in proceedings before the auditor and assist them in establishing the line of legal defense in the investigative committee, should it be established.
A hint of this could be heard in a speech given by the retired Chief of Staff, Aviv Kochavi, who during a memorial ceremony for the martyrs of the Lord said the following sentence: "October 7th is both a shocking and a defining event, which requires deep clarity and incisive investigations.
The event should be examined from all angles, in all areas and with a multi-year view, and within that, of course, also the period in which I was in command of the IDF. I am responsible for the decisions and actions taken in the IDF during my time as Chief of Staff."
In addition, the IDF is not really enthusiastic about the inspection that the auditor is conducting and they would prefer to see a state commission of inquiry, one that would also thoroughly examine the political echelon and especially Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. However, the IDF is cooperating and as mentioned preliminary documents have been handed over to the auditor.
