After years of living in the US, the couple - he is a senior manager of an American company and she is an optometrist, they have 3 children - began to plan their return to Israel. They purchased a garden apartment in Herzliya, located near their parents' homes, whose renovation was entrusted to interior designer Olga Greenberg.

"The garden apartment they purchased is located in a 4-story building that was built about a decade ago and spans 2 levels: an entrance floor from which you go down to a basement floor surrounded by English courtyards through which plenty of natural light and air penetrate. In addition, it is surrounded by a garden of about 100 square meters more ", Greenberg explains.

"The previous owners did not make changes to the foundation provided by the contractor about a decade ago, so in practice the apartment looked small, dark and uninviting.

On the design level, the couple's request was to incorporate in the new design several pictures drawn by Tzipora Ronan - the deceased grandmother of the father of the family.

When I discovered how rich and impressive the collection she left behind was, I decided to integrate many of them throughout the new house - it is a great privilege for me as an artist to perpetuate the family memory."

"At the same time, we tried to incorporate as much as possible furniture donated by the parents. The ultimate goal was to create a comfortable apartment that would be fun to raise children in, that would look bright, spacious and pleasant. In the basement floor, I was asked to design a gym for the five, a home theater corner and computer games, and in addition, a modular room that would be used as a guest room and work room "

At the entrance to the house, I designed a foyer which I defined with the help of a three-way piece of furniture used to store a wardrobe, including a huge body mirror, and integrated into the lowering of the ceiling.

Although the ceiling is a technical constraint, it helped me embed LED profiles in it with a unique composition that accompanies those who step from the entrance into the public space.

In the meantime, in order to improve the air conditioning in the living room area, I changed the position of the grills of the air conditioner, eliminated the heavy and unnecessary plaster walls and integrated recessed lighting in the space."

"The kitchen was carefully designed and contains comfortable work surfaces, niches for cooking appliances, a stand for making smoothies and a spacious dining table. Being two-way, it allowed me to create cabinets that face the hallway area located on the other side, where the apartment communication cabinet, the vacuum cleaner, etc. are located.

"In the living room and the dining area I combined many items that the couple received from their parents, this in order to reduce costs such as the leather sofa, a living room table that was custom made by carpenters, the iron lamp above the dining table as well as the dining chairs.

This is one of the reasons why I chose the eclectic style and combined, alongside the old items, modern elements with a nod to the past (an iron lamp with crystals above a dining table), rustic (kitchen fronts with a frame and iron handles) and industrial (an old carpenter's table).

What connects the different items is the color on the pure cloudy green with combinations of burgundy-oval and additions of wood and black iron, while the casing is mostly light."

"On the basement floor, two rooms were united into one huge space in order to use the space optimally and create a place for a luxurious cinema corner, a ping pong table and many fitness facilities. You can watch TV not only while sitting on the sofa but also during a workout.

"The style on this level is industrial-modern- I used a lot of leather, wood and black iron and with natural-ethnic elements.

In the power wall, I designed a black metal sideboard which I emphasized with black wallpaper on the vertical wall that "folds" into the wall of the TV, centers the TV in front of the sofa and is a contrast to the bright vases. Out of Grandma's many photos, I chose to incorporate large and colorful paintings into it, the most prominent of which are 2 photos Giants in the form of Mexican musicians and dancers drawn with a combined technique of pencil and watercolor and create an atmosphere of joy and fun.

"In the English courtyards outside, I used ethnic-modern tiles in black and white tones that blend well with the exterior plaster in a natural tone.

I chose black wall "street lamps", plants and yard facilities.

That's how we got two more cool balconies."

"Originally, the parents' master bedroom was rectangular and included a cramped bathroom. To use the existing space efficiently, I attached the bed to a corner between 2 walls that connect at a dark angle, which I obscured with a symmetrical composition of brass lamps emanating from the ceiling, and a large picture above the bed. Thus, The room feels more spacious, even though I reduced it in favor of enlarging the bathroom.

"The space was inspired by one of Grandma's pictures - a cheerful belly dancer in a magenta shade combined with copper details and with the addition of modern lines in the form of black metal.

The couple's inscription also hangs in the room, on top of the dear grandmother's painting.

I also created a spacious closet for them and a comfortable place to put clothes next to the bed on top of an iron chair.

I also incorporated a small computer desk, with all the carpentry done by special order from a master carpenter."

"The general bathroom is also very narrow: about 195 cm wide, which is at least 30 cm narrower than usual - that's why everything in it was designed to the millimeter level. In the bathroom area, I created a decorative wall resembling a wooden mosaic, which by a special layout got a three-dimensional effect Dimensional. In order to create a sense of space, I installed a large mirror in front of it that creates the illusion of a much larger space. The hanging sink dresser was painted blue and above it a matte white cast marble surface with an integral sink and to hide the washing machine and dryer I used a white stove which in itself adds a lot of interest."
