A video about the freezing rain in Bavaria goes viral on X (formerly Twitter).
A BR reporter experiences a strange surprise on his car.
Augsburg – The black ice warning kept large parts of Bavaria in suspense on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the German Weather Service, there was a “danger to life and limb due to freezing rain with heavy ice build-up”.
School was canceled in many cities and districts on Wednesday.
When a reporter opened his car window in the freezing rain, he was amazed.
Video from BR reporter goes viral: freezing rain freezes on the car
Andreas Herz is a correspondent for
BR
and
ARD
in Augsburg.
Herz shared a video on
X
(formerly Twitter) on Wednesday morning.
In it you can see him rolling down the passenger window of his car.
The disc rolls down perfectly with a whirring sound.
But where the window used to be, a thick layer of ice remains.
A kind of second “ice window pane” had formed overnight, which even stuck to the car without the passenger window.
Only when the window pane goes up again does the ice plate move slightly.

The black ice warning caused chaos in the Ebersberg district.
On Tuesday evening, the district office announced that face-to-face teaching would take place regularly.
On Wednesday morning, however, it was said that school would be canceled after all.
However, the news came so late that many students were already on the way.
