Highlights: FW Erding: There is a need to catch up in social housing construction. They also want more emphasis on fire stations and parking spaces. A parking garage on the site of the former building yard at Lodererplatz is a wish that the city council had wanted for a long time. However, there is nothing new about this at the moment - like with flood protection. The parliamentary group expressed a lack of understanding that the extension building on the Beautiful Tower, which was once leased by a hairdresser, is still empty.

In their public parliamentary group meeting, the Erding Free Voters warned of a lack of affordable housing in the district town.

They also want more emphasis on fire stations and parking spaces.

Langengeisling

- The six city councilors of the Free Voters discussed topics in Erding such as social housing, parking spaces and flooding with some members in their public group meeting in the Strickcafé Zehmerhof.

“There is a lack of social housing in Erding,” said Deputy Mayor Petra Bauernfeind, also chairwoman of the Neighborhood Assistance Association.

The urban apartments in the settlement on Lodererplatz no longer meet a reasonable standard, she said: “The houses there are totally outdated in terms of energy efficiency, can no longer be renovated and are not barrier-free either.”

In her opinion, the residential complex there would be well suited for densification with additional social housing, but there is a lack of interested investors.

She also gave the reason: “Private money is now preferred to be invested in new asylum accommodation because there is profitable rental income from the district.” In addition, the construction of new social housing often fails due to a lack of parking spaces.

FW parliamentary group spokesman Hans Fehlberger spoke about the planned three new fire stations in Erding, Altenerding and Langengeisling.

The city already owns the land for this, but the current financial situation requires a postponement of these projects.

“A few years ago Erding still had 100 million euros in reserves, currently it is just 34 million,” said Fehlberger.

The parliamentary group suggested building fire stations in a more pragmatic and less expensive way in the future.

A study on its feasibility is in progress.

Another topic was a parking garage on the site of the former building yard at Lodererplatz, a wish that the city council had wanted for a long time.

However, there is nothing new about this at the moment - like with flood protection.

“Various implementation ideas are still being discussed.

There is no agreement within the council,” explained Fehlberger.

Josef Hochholzer commented on the criticism from some members about cleaning the streams better and removing smaller trees there in order to avoid blockages: "As a master glazier, I will not give any instructions to the water management office, which has the authority to do this."

The parliamentary group also expressed a lack of understanding that the extension building on the Beautiful Tower, which was once leased by a hairdresser, is still empty.

Bauernfeind said: “All we hear is that the tourism office that was originally planned there cannot be implemented because there are no parking spaces – hasn’t this lack bothered anyone before?”

The vacancy in the center of Altenerdingen in the building opposite the church, which once housed the savings bank, was also discussed.

Fehlberger said: “The city wants public use here, but has not yet made any suggestions.” He himself could easily imagine a restaurant there.

In general, the Free Voters would like to appear more present.

They praised the increased respect in the committee: “Cross-party discussions in the city council are now going quite well,” said Fehlberger.
