A 24-year-old man attacked a 42-year-old woman with a knife in the early hours of the morning last Friday at Petershauser train station.

Shortly after the crime, the police were able to arrest the man near the crime scene, and the woman was found by winter service employees and given first aid.

As the Upper Bavaria North Police Headquarters (PPO) announced yesterday, the crime had already occurred last Friday around 3:15 a.m.

The 42-year-old, who has no permanent address, was on the train station platform when she started talking to the man.

"We don't yet know whether there was a previous relationship, whether the two knew each other or what the two talked about," said a spokeswoman for the PPO yesterday.

A little later, the 24-year-old, also homeless and a Hungarian citizen, pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman several times.

The suspect then fled on foot, but was found during the search near the crime scene, a few hundred meters away, and was temporarily arrested.

The victim was injured in the thigh area and one hand in the attack, according to police.

According to the police, winter service employees who were clearing the track area of ​​snow and ice became aware of the injured person, provided first aid and alerted the emergency services.

The 42-year-old Romanian woman was taken to hospital in an ambulance for further treatment.

The Fürstenfeldbruck criminal police took over further investigations into the background to the crime and initiated criminal proceedings against the suspect for attempted murder.

At the request of the Munich II public prosecutor's office, the 24-year-old was brought before the responsible judge on Saturday afternoon.

He issued an arrest warrant, whereupon the man was transferred to a correctional facility.

The police actually wanted to release the press release on Friday, but during the course of Friday the crime was upgraded from dangerous bodily harm to attempted homicide, as the press spokeswoman explained yesterday.

In addition, the suspect had not yet been brought before the investigating judge and the interrogation of the victim had not yet been completed.

“And the perpetrator was arrested, so there was no danger to the public,” said the spokeswoman for the Upper Bavaria North police headquarters.

Therefore, the press report about the crime on Friday morning was only published yesterday.
