LE FIGARO. - The Republicans have finally designated their head of list for the European elections. Unsurprisingly, it was MEP François-Xavier Bellamy who was chosen. Is this the best opponent for you?

The main criticism I would make of François-Xavier Bellamy is inconsistency.
I do not question his sincerity but I consider that he cannot defend what he defends - or would like to defend - by having supported Valérie Pécresse until the last minute, when she called to vote for Emmanuel Macron .
He chooses to be the representative of a party which often sits with the Macronists in the regions and departments, which has become the bench of replacements for Macron's government and which, at the European level, sits in a group which is part of the majority of Ursula von der Leyen.
This group, the EPP, voted for the distribution of migrants, the extension of surrogate mothers, sanctions against conservative right-wing governments, etc.
