So could – subjunctive!

No participants in the closed meeting of the Wolfratshausen City Council would like to name Ross and Reiter.

But the majority of elected officials have apparently agreed on “option one”.

Wolfratshausen – “Ora et labora”, pray and work, is the motto of the Benedictines.

It is not known whether the mayor and city councilors folded their hands and communed with God at their closed meeting in the former Benedictine abbey Seeon Monastery at the weekend.

What is certain, however, is that the elected officials were hard-working.

The question of whether and, if so, where a parking garage will be built in the rafting town was discussed “intensively and constructively”.

This is what town hall boss Klaus Heilinglechner (citizens' association) reported following the meeting in Chiemgau.

New parking garage in Wolfratshausen: This is what “variant one” means

According to him, the tenor now is that the approximately 70 public parking spaces that would fall victim to the upgrading of the old town and the redesign of the western bank of the Loisach must be compensated for elsewhere.

Heilinglechner speaks of a “solution to the elimination of existing parking spaces” – and means the construction of a parking garage or parking deck near the center.

Two potential locations have “crystallized,” said the mayor, without naming the children.

Now “structural questions still need to be clarified”.

Then “further steps would be discussed in the city council and put to a vote.”

According to the parliamentary group leader, the CSU's proposal is out of the race

Participants learned that option one involves building a two- or three-story parking garage on Hatzplatz.

As a second option, the city councilors are considering increasing the parking space behind the savings bank building on Hammerschmiedweg.

The CSU parliamentary group spokeswoman does not want to confirm this to our newspaper.

“There is a solution and an alternative,” explains Claudia Drexl-Weile.

However, she reveals that the CSU's proposal - an underground car park under the sports field at the La Vida youth center - is out of the running.

The main reasons: the expected very high construction costs and the noise protection that the neighboring elementary and middle school enjoys.

“But we found a solution and that’s a good thing,” said Drexl-Weile after the weekend meeting.

“Something has to happen now”, the parking garage chapter should be finished as quickly as possible.

We have been confirmed in our opinion.

Helmut Forster, parliamentary group leader of the Wolfratshauser List - which calls for the construction of a parking garage on Hatzplatz

Ex-mayor Helmut Forster, parliamentary group leader of the Wolfratshauser List, has the same opinion.

He did not travel to Chiemgau “with great expectations,” but admits: “The discussions were intensive and good.” Although the “big hit” was not successful, he is pleased that the Wolfratshauser list has been “confirmed.”

As reported, the three-member group has applied to build a parking garage on Hatzplatz - the city council has not yet voted on the application.

In an interview with our newspaper, Forster emphasizes: The time until the old town is upgraded - as reported, the work will not begin until 2026 at the earliest - must now be used.

Before public car parking spaces are lost due to the renovation work, new parking spaces would have to be created elsewhere.

The iron is now hot and should continue to be forged.

The exam was important, it was “a success,” says Fritz Meixner, spokesman for the SPD/FDP parliamentary group, looking back.

Not least because all participants now “have a broad level of knowledge”.

It would have been impossible to tackle the closely interrelated projects of upgrading the city center and building a parking garage in one city council meeting.

Meixner states: “We worked well.” He doesn’t deny that there were sometimes emotional discussions: “You can argue about the matter as long as it’s done respectfully” – and that’s how it was.

According to the SPD/FDP spokesman, there is now a proposal on the table that appears to be capable of gaining a majority.

“The iron is now hot and should continue to be struck.”

The parliamentary group spokesman for the Greens draws a positive conclusion from the closed meeting

“The closed meeting was right and important”: That is Peter Lobenstein’s conclusion.

According to the chairman of the Green Party's city council group, his expectations with which he traveled to Seeon were “partially” fulfilled.

“The big success would have been if we had come back with a concrete solution on Saturday and had the excavators rolling in this week.” But neither the Prussians nor the Bavarians are shooting that quickly.

Building a parking garage on Hatzplatz or increasing the parking space behind the Sparkasse?

“We have a favorite,” Lobenstein replies, but doesn’t let the cat out of the bag.

However, like his counterparts, he advocates “for a timely decision”, which should not be ignored: “We are talking about tax money here”, which should be handled carefully.

Josef Praller, parliamentary group spokesman for the Wolfratshausen Citizens' Association

The spokesman for the Wolfratshausen Citizens' Association is tight-lipped when it comes to the specific content: “It's like sports.

What is discussed in the team cabin stays in the cabin,” says Josef Praller.

His expectations for the exam were “positively” fulfilled - “and now we can move on”.

The will of the city councilors to crown the issue of parking garages with a resolution is “clearly evident”.

Now the ball is in the mayor's court, Praller's parliamentary group colleague Heilinglechner is now "determining the further schedule".
