Five towns in Hauts-de-Seine are eligible for financial aid released by the Île-de-France regional council to rehabilitate and rebuild public facilities destroyed or damaged during last summer's riots.
Like 41 other Ile-de-France municipalities, they can thus benefit from a repayable advance from the emergency fund announced at the beginning of July by regional president Valérie Pécresse (LR).
The latter, supplemented to the tune of 11.3 million euros, was created following the series of violence which punctuated the territory after the death of Nahel Merzouk, a teenager shot dead at the wheel of his car by police shooting, the June 27 in Nanterre.
Depending on the deterioration suffered, each of the towns selected by the regional council can request an envelope ranging from 2,000 to 500,000 euros.
In Gennevilliers, a quarter of the damage from the riots will be covered
Rueil-Malmaison and Asnières-sur-Seine will respectively benefit from support of nearly 37,000 euros, for the rehabilitation of the youth leisure and mediation center in the Tarâtres district, and 12,000 euros for the renovation of the medical center -social.
Gennevilliers will receive an advance of half a million euros, just like Nanterre, the source of the violence, where 10 sites were damaged.
“This refundable advance covers a quarter of the damage caused during the riots,” explains the mayor of Gennevilliers, Patrice Leclerc (PCF).
It will allow the rehabilitation of the Labor Exchange, the youth structure at Agnettes, the Aimé-Césaire social and cultural center and the Louise-Michel, Denis-Diderot and Henri-Wallon schools.
Meudon declines the advance
“This sum allows us to begin the work, reducing our difficulties in advancing money,” continues the elected official who also hopes to obtain aid from the State.
I hope to repay as much as possible to the Region, this will mean that the insurance companies will have played their role well.

Meudon, where the attack on the annexed town hall and the municipal police station by rioters caused damage amounting to 200,000 euros, is also eligible for an advance of 500,000 euros but will "a priori" not have need to call on it, according to its mayor (UDI) Denis Larghero.
“At this stage, we are covered by our insurance,” assures the first councilor, specifying that redevelopment work on the two buildings was already planned before the riots and cannot therefore fall under the system.
