On the night of Monday January 22 to Tuesday January 23, a retired sixty-year-old opened fire from the balcony of his apartment directly

What happened in the head of Frédéric P., resident of Coudray (Eure-et-Loir), that night of January 22?

Around 10 p.m., the 61-year-old retired man contacted 115 indicating that he was planning to shoot anything that moved.

Quickly dispatched to the site, the national police called in the Raid, the threat being considered serious.

A perimeter of around a hundred meters was immediately set up in front of the apartment located on the second floor above the pharmacy in the city center.

Negotiations with the Raid men took another turn when the man first opened fire twice with a rifle.

“A car was in the way, he asked for it to be moved and fired two shots,” says Dominique Soulet, mayor of Coudray, who was on site at the time of the incident.

Law enforcement officers moved the vehicle in an attempt to calm the individual.

But a new exchange of gunfire took place.

Frédéric P. is said to have fired around ten times.

" I was very afraid.

I'm still shaking,” says a neighbor next door, before continuing: “I saw a man from the Raid hide behind a post to enter discreetly into the building.

Psychiatric analyzes

It was finally, around 3 a.m., that the Raid managed to enter the apartment of the suspect, who surrendered without resistance.

“It seemed to me that he was drunk,” confides a young woman who witnessed the scene.

The sixty-year-old was placed in police custody, and a search was carried out at his home in the presence of two neighbors.

Frédéric Chevallier, Chartres prosecutor, thus reports the presence of weapons of war in Frédéric P.'s home and specifies: “We are going to carry out psychiatric analyses.

But this man has no criminal record.

In the neighborhood, the surprise is great.

“It’s incredible,” reacts Mélanie, an employee at the neighboring bar.

He comes every Wednesday to drink his coffee here.

I can't say anything bad about him.

» The same goes for the grocer located opposite the apartment: “This man is very nice, he came yesterday at 9 a.m. to buy me some beers.

» For Jean-Louis, well known in the sector's associative world and who also knows Frédéric P., the astonishment is the same.

" I don't understand.

He is a discreet and friendly man.

He regularly goes to see his mother in Loir-et-Cher.

» The investigation continues to understand the motivations of the young retiree, former telephone advisor.
