A chairlift in a ski resort in Switzerland suddenly comes to a standstill.

Some holidaymakers are stuck, others have to walk to the next departure.

Laax – A short ride on the cable car or lift and skiers can use dozens of slopes for their descent.

However, this is not entirely harmless.

Just recently a boy fell off a chairlift.

Even in Switzerland, a day on the slopes didn't go quite according to plan for some holidaymakers.

A lift was closed twice in a row.

Skiers therefore had to walk up the mountain with their heavy equipment.

Chaos on the Swiss slopes: Holidaymakers are stuck in the ski lift – “People were really desperate”

The Fuorcla chairlift at 2,118 meters in the Films Laax ski area failed on Saturday (January 20), the news portal

reported .

At times the elevator no longer went up.

Actually no problem if holidaymakers can simply take the nearest slope.

However, the Fuorcla lift only goes uphill.

There is no piste that leads off from the end of the track.

Some were even stuck in the gondola.

After a standstill, operations could not have been resumed, the operators told the newspaper.

The relevant runway was then closed.

It was only after about half an hour that the remaining passengers were able to be transported upstairs, and the technical fault was resolved after around an hour and a half.

Those affected were compensated with a voucher.

In the meantime, the skiers could only wait or scramble up the mountain on their own.

A tourist reported that a snow groomer was repeatedly transporting winter sports enthusiasts up, but even this only progressed gradually.

According to the piste map, those affected could only go in the direction of Crap Masegn at 2,447 meters or to Vorab at 2,570 meters.

According to

, holidaymakers would have had to climb around 80 meters in altitude to the next piste.

“People were really desperate,” the tourist told the news portal.

The lift fails again just one day later – “Skiers have to walk up the slopes again”

On Sunday (January 21st), holidaymakers in the popular ski area also had to have strong nerves.

The elevator had broken down again.

This time too there was said to be a technical malfunction.

The cause is not known.

“Again, skiers have to walk up the slopes – with day tickets that cost 100 francs,” said a witness, clearly annoyed.

Skiing is not particularly cheap - especially at the moment.

A look at the piste map on Sunday afternoon revealed that the Fuorcla lift had not yet reopened shortly before the last ascent (as of January 21st, 3:45 p.m.).

“Fuorcla is a bottleneck;

“It only goes up,” said a user on the short message service X.

“Never had a problem with the old gondolas in many years.

But now solutions must be found very quickly.

Otherwise, what is actually a great ski area will lose its attractiveness and popularity.”

Winter sports tourism provides many jobs.

The job as an après-ski waiter is particularly popular.
