The former prefect of the North Georges-François Leclerc was appointed chief of staff to the Minister of Labor, Health and Solidarity Catherine Vautrin, according to a decree published Tuesday January 23 in the
Official Journal.
This 57-year-old senior civil servant returns to the health issues that he had the opportunity to address between 2007 and 2009 when he was chief of staff to Roselyne Bachelot, then Minister of Health, Youth and Sports, under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy.
Known to be close to Gérald Darmanin
At the time, Georges-François Leclerc notably participated in the development and adoption of the “
Hospital patient health territory
” (HPST) law at the origin of the regional health agencies (ARS).
Known to be close to the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, this graduate of Sciences Po Paris and ENA joined the prefectural body, successively occupying the positions of prefect of Aube, Haute-Savoie, Alpes Maritimes and Seine-Saint-Denis.
In the North, where he was appointed in 2021, he decided in December 2023 to end the contract linking the Lille Averroès high school to the State, thus ceasing to subsidize the main Muslim high school in France from the start of the 2024 school year, 20 years after its creation.
