In “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Günther Jauch made a spicy confession.
He ended up in prison in Egypt on suspicion of terrorism.
Hürth – On Monday evening (January 22nd) the big guessing game started again on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” in prime time.
In the presence of candidate Suzanne Muller, Günther Jauch (67) got into a chatting mood.
The presenter revealed a criminal episode that happened to him in Egypt in the 1980s.

The decisive factor was a confession from candidate Suzanne Muller from Berlin.
She was once caught by the police while riding her bike through a red light.
However, since she didn't pay the fine, the Dutch-born woman had to go to prison for one night.
Inspired by Muller's crime, Jauch suddenly blurted out a story.
However, the 67-year-old triggered a real military operation.
“I was in prison once too,” Jauch admits.

There was a not entirely harmless incident in Giza.
“I flew around in a helicopter like that.
Then I landed next to the pyramids, but in a restricted military area,” he continued.
However, it wasn't Jauch's fault.
“The pilot didn’t really know his way around,” he added to the moderator.

The landing on unauthorized terrain immediately resulted in military action.
“Egyptian soldiers were there immediately.
“They grabbed me and immediately locked me in a cell for two hours,” remembers Günther Jauch.
However, the suspicion of a terrorist act went off lightly.

“Of course they were surprised.
With a helicopter and a cameraman…” the presenter continues with a grin.
“I wasn't the classic terrorist.” The prison experience itself was also less bad than expected.
“It was quite shady in the cell.
That was okay,” Günther Jauch concluded his story.
