Once again, travelers and commuters in Munich have to be prepared for long waiting times: the GDL is on strike, and Munich S-Bahn traffic will be affected from Tuesday evening (January 23rd).

Munich - For the second time in January, the German Locomotive Drivers' Union (GDL) announced a strike - which will also massively affect the Munich S-Bahn.

The strike is scheduled to last from 2 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24th until 6 p.m. on Monday, January 29th.

Both passenger and freight transport operated by Deutsche Bahn (DB) are affected.

Passengers are being asked to postpone trips

According to DB, there may even be bottlenecks on the S-Bahn from Tuesday evening (January 23rd).

Passengers are being asked to refrain from traveling and to postpone them - despite the emergency timetable that applies during the strike: The S1 runs to Freising every 60 minutes, the S2 runs between Markt Schwaben and Dachau every 20 to 40 minutes, the remaining sections are served every hour.

S3, S4, S6 and S7 run every 60 minutes.

The S8 runs every 20 minutes between Pasing and the airport, between Pasing and Germering every 20 to 40 minutes and between Germering and Herrsching every hour.

Rail traffic in Bavaria will also strongly feel the effects of the strike.

Anyone who would like to postpone their planned trip due to the strike can use their ticket at a later date.

The ticket is then valid for the journey to the original destination.
